To submit a logo to a contest you should consider the following things:
*dimension of your art board should be 1000px X 1000px
*a medium resolution such as 150dpi is a moderate idea so that u can go though further info to get it more higher or lower resolution next.
*Place your logo in the middle alignment and try to focus the position zooming in or out to look it perfect for the contest holder.

Personally, I would always do it at 300ppi, because it doesn't usually affect too much the size of the image, and the image itself looks sharper. Higher than 300ppi will not likely be noticeable by the human eye (Specially on a logo) nor printers cannot usually print more than that resolution at the moment. So if the size is really a problem you could go lower, but I'd reccommend always 300ppi :)

According to me u can upload high resolution logo with "Mock up" so that client get attract by your creativity .
Avoid :
1 . suck a water marks on logo
2 . low quality logo
3. generic logo
