Analysis of social media buzz around US Presidential Elections
The past few weeks witnessed the unfolding of dramatic events around the Presidential elections. In line with social media findings, Governor Mitt Romney finally reached the magic number of 1,144 delegates, to become the Republican flag-bearer to face Barack Obama in November. Although he is the Republican Presidential candidate, his confirmation will be made official at the Republican National Convention in Florida in late August. President Obama stepped up his re-election campaign once again but the anticipated effects were struck down with a sudden rise in unemployment figures in the country. The top trends, sentiments and more will be explored further in this week’s post.
Mitt Romney trumped Obama once again by capturing the major portion of social media conversations (62%). The chatter around Romney was driven by his current net worth of almost $250 million and his ‘inevitable’ nomination as the Republican Party candidate. Barack Obama continued to slip downward capturing only 38% of conversations.
