Hi there, my name is Tony and I love to write.
A lot of my experience is related to writing game design documents, high concepts, and pitch documents related to game products. I'm looking for a nice little side job to earn some extra cash over the summer and writing content part time would be great.
What are game design documents, high concepts and game pitch documents? And how do they pertain to what you need written?
Game design documents need to explain everything about a game, so people just joining a project can be brought up to speed and jump right in. A small game can easily take about 100 pages of information that needs to be organized and easy for team members to read. Think of it as a bunch of articles describing various aspects of a game (menus, user interface layouts, game play mechanics, etc.) strung together to make a cohesive thought.
A high concept needs to summarize a game in 2 pages. This is what investors read and focus on to decide if they want to invest in a game or not. Everything needs to be explanatory, but open to interpretation and appealing. It sounds kind of crazy, but games really need this to help establish a great base for investors and the project team to move forward.
Pitch documents add to high concept, but aren't nearly as fun to look at. They mainly contain extra information about timelines, budgets and the goals required for the product to meet investor and product team goals.
Hope to hear back from you. Have a wonderful evening.
