To make it right you will need permits and a structural engineer to look at the plans. It needs to follow local codes and northern climate. It would be in your best interest to hire someone that is familiar with united states building codes. If you want to save green get engineered prints and a permit. You may think you can save money by hiring someone cheep but in a few years it will fall apart and you'll have to hire someone to tear it apart and do it again. As a young Architect in a country in economic crisis I am used to keep the costs in mind when I get to the drawing board. I understand the needs of my clients and deliver the best of me no matter if it's a barn or an expensive unifamiliar home. This is the main reason I feel like I could do a satisfactory job. I believe that, being, of controled costs and supposed to be attached to an existing structure we should use mostly wood and choose a simple process of construction so it can reduce the hours paid to contractors. I would design after your demands regarding it's expression and looks, a picture (or series of pictures) of the intervention site should also come in handy as I could propose a better concept based on this information. Any law related restrictions should also be discussed, along with the dimensions that are needed. I should take no longer than a week and will deliver sections, plans, building instructions and details, along with a possible tridimensional element of how the shed will be. I can work with the available wood (2x4s and other pre-cuts). Other than this, please feel free to check a few of my works on my profile or contact me for any information regarding this project.
