The Cobb County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has scheduled the 34th Oscar R. Freeman Freedom Fund Awards Banquet for Saturday, November 5, 2016. I am writing to encourage your participation.
Our theme: “NAACP: Our Lives Matter, Our Votes Count” is most appropriate as we continue our fight for justice and equality. We must all work together now, more than ever. We need each other.
During the event we will honor several persons and organizations who have made significant contributions to our communities. Highlighting our evening will be the presentation of our Political Participation Award to the Honorable Roy E. Barnes for the courage he displayed in changing Georgia’s state flag 15 years ago. We are excited to mark this anniversary with a tribute to his strong leadership.
In addition to giving honors, the Annual Awards program is the financial cornerstone for Branch operations. Your continued support is critical to our success in generating funds to maintain our programs of addressing health and education disparities and programs for our youth.
Your continued support would be confirmation of the level of commitment you bring to the NAACP and our programs. We hope you see the value in your support that helps maintain partnerships. Through these partnerships, we are able to carry out healthy and effective relationships here in Cobb County and the state of Georgia.
The banquet will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Northwest at Galleria, located at 200 Interstate North Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia. There will be a reception held at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner and awards ceremony at 7:15 p.m.
Please join us, as this year’s event co-chairs, along with Deane Bonner, President of the Cobb County NAACP in making this year’s event not only a success, but the best one yet.
The enclosure will provide sponsorship information. We appreciate your immediate
response and your generous sponsorship. If you have additional questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact us at the address or telephone number listed.
