Dear Sir,
I am an AWAI-trained freelance direct response copywriter who is interested in finding out more about this project. I would love to know more about your company and what products/services I will be promoting with the copy I write for you should we decide to work together. I have studied the techniques of master copywriters such as Dan Kennedy, Bob Bly and Michael Masterson, and in fact these three were big contributors to the copywriting program I took at AWAI.
The bid I made is very provisional and probably not what we will decide on if you want to discuss terms with me. You asked for a flat fee for ten letters, but I need to know how long each letter is supposed to be, the product being sold for each one, and the time frame. All of this information tells me how many hours of research and writing I need to put into it. Any copywriter worth her salt gets into her prospects head and learns the product inside and out before even thinking about typing the sales letter-- that's how you get copy that converts, not just sells.
To that end, a professional copywriter charges anywhere from $500-$2000 for a 2-4 page sales letter. It also usually takes at least a week to put together a single sales letter due to the amount of work that goes into getting it just right. I can't give you a good quote until I get a better idea of what I'm working with, but once you do I'd be willing to offer a 30% first-time client discount.
I understand that everyone has budgets and you might have to settle for someone who charges less but is of lower quality. But I can tell you that a good copywriter will more than make up what you spend on her in the sheer amount of sales revenue she'll generate with her work. In any case, I've sent you a PM with a sample of a direct response package I wrote for a mens health supplement so you can decide whether or not you are interested in working with me or someone else.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration, and best of luck to you and your business!
Sincerely,
Jessica
