Band Art Graphic

Hello, My band, Tornado Rose, is needing some original artwork for various promotional material and our upcoming EP. Our logo (such as it is) was originally a tattoo (see attached). It has been re-worked, but isn't quite suitable for our purposes as the original form of body art has not read as well in other mediums. I.e. it looks good on an arm, but it looks like crap on everything else we've tried to use it for. I would like to stay true to the original design concept: a beautiful red rose with a green eye in the middle. What I don't like about the current one: the bloodshot eye is creepy, the orientation of the eyeball inside the rose looks strange; if the rose looks right side up, the eyeball looks upside down and vice-versa. And the process of interpreting a piece of body art into a digital format has left it looking over-worked (to my eye). My only other caveat is that, while I am a girl, the rest of my band are pretty manly and wouldn't take to kindly to anything 'too girly', so I want something that is beautiful, but isn't going to gross the dudes out. I'll try to be easy; since we already have the design, I don't think it will be too hard a job. Holla back.
