Despite the portal has been already created and it's fully operational, the first thing I will have to do is become familiar with how you have implemented:
- Types of translation (simple, professional, etc)
- Types of source documents (DOC, TXT, etc) and how to upload
- Fee structure (per language from-to, word and type of translations), ranges (such as first 250 words, up to 1000, 2000, etc)
- Payment platform connections
- Translation default milestones, draft delivery and approval
- Translated document staging (depending on type of user account, for example)
- Translator account types
There may be more aspects to learn but the above are the basic ones to get familiar and understand the extent of the changes you are trying to make.
We will have to agree on how will you receive deliverables but I think that we can split the development in the following phases (based on what you proposed):
1) User profile changes
2) Freelancer changes
3) Employer changes
I plan to develop certain phase while you test another. For example, you will be testing 1 while I work on 2, testing 2 while I work on 3, etc.
