Javascript Class like Jquery

I want to create a javascript library like JQuery and need to have a base to work on. I really want to have it lean and simple and only support new browsers. I just need the DOM selection, a hide method and a click event, other functionality I will implement myself. So basically I want to receive a javascript library that can do the following: $(‘p’).hide(); // will hide all paragraphs $(‘#myID’).hide(); // will hide the element with id ‘myID’ $(‘.myclass’); // will hide all elements with the class ‘myClass’ Most important is passing of the object, so that chaining is possible and that a click even will pass down the object clicked on, so that this would work: $(‘.myclass’).click(function(){ $(this).hide(); }); // will hide only the class that is clicked on I would like to have the class, ASAP. I did not gave a high budget to this project, since i know that it is not that much work, i develop myself, but am short on time this moment so cannot start on this.
