Any Virtuemart experts online right now?

I need help with some debugging. The IPN notifications isn't triggering the emails, I don't understand why. It's a global problem because I have 2 payment plugins and none of them do it. It's not a server configuration issue, If you use the direct payment plugin which does not use IPN the emails get just fine. Also all other emails from the system get there. Also, in a fresh install of joomla and virtuemart everything works. Both payment solutions (Paypal and Mercadopago) are sending the confirmation information just fine because the status of the order is changed and the order information has the confirmation stored, so it's not a problem with the merchants. I originally had joomla 2.5 and virtuemart 3.0.9. I tried upgrading virtuemart to 3.0.10 which created a whole lot of new issues but didn't fix the emails problem, if you fix it in 3.0.9 or 3.0.10 is both fine by me. I read a lot of forum messages with similar problems but some of them are too old and some don't offer any answers. Have you ever encountered something like this before? Thank you.
