Decrypt Legacy system data.

We have a legacy system that we're migrating to a new product. We don't have the source code for the project (it was written in 1988) and the company has long since gone out of business. We have text fields of data that contains product descriptions and marketing data. This data is encrypted (the reason for this was simply to make it hard for people to get at the data from the database and lock the customer into their solution). Instead of having to re-type all the descriptions (there are over 100,000 products), and since product unbelievably does not have an export function that will export the data the customer needs, we'd like to decrypt the data and simply run a program to pull all the data out. We have both the encrypted data and clear text after decryption (which shows up in the products displays interface). I would like someone to provide me with the an algorithm to decrypt this data, the language can be anything from VB, PHP or even C++... we'd simply like to know the "magic incarnation" of getting this data out of the system.
