Data Entry App (Adobe AIR)

A desktop application where you enter a unique ID number, and it checks against a database, responding with a positive or negative match. The focus is on function only. You need only provide the most basic interface. To be made with Adobe AIR. ## Deliverables The software is very simple. It captures an ID number, queries the database, and returns positive or negative. Screen 1 - They choose the database to check ID numbers against. - The program should know whether there is an active internet connection. If so, it gives the option to work "Online". - Whether or not there is an internet connection, the user can select a database file to use for this session. (They will need to be able to "install" the data from a file found on their desktop.) - Once a file is chosen, it is checked to ensure it's in the proper format, and show the number of records found. It also loads some configuration variables to use for the session. - Confirm to enter the data-entry screen Screen 2 - Data entry - The prominent feature is a large text input box. The cursor should be focused there. - There is a "submit" button beside this text box, but it is rarely used. - The input box should automatically submit when it reaches a specified number of characters. (one of the config variables loaded from the database) - If ONLINE mode, the ID number is submitted to a web page, as a query string. The page returned will be parsed for a response. - if using a database file, the record containing that ID will be returned. - A corresponding sound will play for positive or negative returns. - The corresponding data for that ID number will show on screen (below the text input) until the next ID number is entered, and the process repeats. - There should be a button to return to screen 1 and change the database.
