Artisan Inlay is seeking designers to create color mockups and templates for marquetry, pictures made from the assembly of naturally colored woods, and wood inlays. The end result of the work employed will be used for the commission of custom and production wood work using a 35 Watt CO2 laser cutter coupled with traditional woodworking techniques.

The designer will be required to convert a sketch, picture or collage into a proper mockup. The mockup will be a hairline outline drawing complete with pattern fills. The patterns will provided from scanned images of the veneer, ≈ .030?? thick wood slices, available to produce the final product. The buyer of this bid request will supply all images required to perform the fills as .jpg files.

Once the mockup is approved to be converted into a template, the designer will then be required to produce a numbered mockup. This drawing will simply be a mockup with the pattern fills replaced with numbers to act as a road map in the final assembly of the product.

Next the templates will have to be produced. Each piece will be a closed path outline, colored in black, with a [url removed, login to view]? contour, colored in red. One template will be the original design with each piece individually separated. The rest of the templates will be CorelDraw files used to group all similar wood veneer pieces so the laser operator may lay them out as appropriate for each cutting operation.

Please note that the mockups may be completed in any standard graphic file format, such as .jpg or .bmp. On the other hand, the templates will be required to be saved as CorelDraw 11 .cdr files.

## Deliverables

0.) The image to be converted to a vector template is "Celtic [url removed, login to view]" and is included in the .zip file. 1) The mockup must be an outline drawing with each piece of the outline filled with scanned images provided by the buyer.

2) The mockup must have each wood type used clearly identified.

3) The mockup may be saved in any standard file format such as .bmp or .jpg. with respectable resolution.

4.) The numbered mockup must be easily numbered and readable to allow for final assembly of each piece cut from the template.

5.) All template files must be submitted as CorelDraw 11 .cdr files.

6.) A master template file must have all pieces laid out in a in rows starting with piece number one in the upper most left hand position progresing horizonatally in rows. An original copy of the assembled piece must also be included in the master template for reference.

7.) Wood specific templates must be collections of all pieces required to be cut from the same wood material. The work area of these templates must be 24 inches wide by 12 inches deep. The wood type to be used in these files will be written in blue text, similar to the examples provided in the .zip file.

8.) All outlines are to be draw in in black with no background.

9.) All contours are to be drawn in red unless otherwise requested. Inside and outside contours for each piece are to be set at 0.002" Note: these contours allow for compensation of a laser beam's kerf.

10.) If a piece is too small to be cut/used in assembly, they buyer reserves the right for a design change to eliminate the problem.

11.) Any jutting out created be the contour of an individual piece will be required to be reworked. A general rule is if the jutting out is > 0.004", it will have to be corrected. An example of this is listed in the .zip file under the extracted file "White Ash Template (Please view this image).cdr". The buyer reserves the right to have any of these corrected apon request.

12.) The buyer agrees to do a test cut within 2 days of the completed project to test viability of the work and determine if any rework must be done.

13.) All colors used in the vectors are designated in the zipped file "Required [url removed, login to view]" and can be imported to your CorelDraw 11 program via "[url removed, login to view]".

14.) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No 3rd party components unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer). This bid request is for contracted work and is not a bid for employment.

## Platform

The corel draw files will be run on an XP system with CorelDraw 11 and the files will be sent to an Universal Laser System M-300 35 Watt CO2 laser cutter.
