Battle script needed to run contests for writers, musicians and eventually film makers.
## Deliverables
**BATTLE** **SCRIPT**
The idea behind this is to run contests for writers, musicians and eventually film makers.
By changing the graphic containing the name of the contest the same script should be suitable for any themed competition.
These competitions will not be free, but require payment through Paypal or Nochex.
Initially, entrants will be competing for a place on a short list by collecting votes.
Final judging will be by human editor who will select winners from the short list and by “cherry picking?? from non-short listed entries.
A mockup has been done of the home page to give an idea of what is required. Please note: The Random Favourite should load from the top 10 (short list).
**There will be 2 levels of user.**
Entrant
Voter
Visitors will be invited to enter or vote via prominent buttons.
**ENTRY PROCEDURE**
Those that want to enter will click the Enter button.
This will take them to a page that explains the competition rules and Paypal and Nochex payment link.
Once payment is made the user will be taken to a Thank you page.
**THE PAYMENT THANK YOU PAGE**
This must contain a text editor for pasting in the poem/story and a file uploader for uploading the graphic or audio file.
There will also be some text explaining that an email will be sent with instructions on how to upload text/audio & photo at a later date if the entrant is not ready to submit on that occasion.
The email needs to contain a unique link that can only be used by the user. To avoid posting multiple entries the link needs to expire after being used once.
**VOTING PROCEDURE**
Anyone can click the Voting button. They do not have to pay or register.
This would take them to a page explaining that we need to verify that they are a real person and not a spammer.
They would be asked to enter their email address and some randomly generated letters and numbers such as that used by some forums.
Once entered correctly, they would be taken to a Voting Thank you page.
**VOTING THANK YOU PAGE**
This should explain that they can now vote and comment on the content on the site. (Only one vote per posting).
A link would take them back to the postings where they can award between 1 ??" 5 stars.
They may vote on as many postings as they like but only once on each. Once verified they do not have to verify again.
**NOTES**
I would presume that this system would create two sets of users in a database with differing privileges.
In the case of the paid entrants, using Paypal's & Nochex IPN avoids the possibility of spamming and bad email addresses.
Adding the random code to the Voters signup should also avoid spamming.
If this system will work, it keeps everything very simple.
Entrants should not be allowed to edit entries once posted so no real need for them to have an account.
If they want to enter again they can just return to the site and click the enter button.
The users identity must not be displayed as this is an annonymous contest.
**ADDITIONAL FEATURES**
At the bottom of each entry there needs to be a button for:
Send to Friend, (multi email facility to send poem link to friend/s).
Report to Admin (just in case unsuitable content is uploaded).
Comments
These need to be moderated by Admin before being published and an email sent to the author of the content being commented on that their work has received a comment.
**ADMIN**
Admin needs to be able to manually enter content for anyone that pays by cheque or is technically incompetent!
Needs to be able to edit each submission and delete if necessary.
Needs to be able to view, edit or delete comments.
