Hello,
I have an access database which contains machine names and a Windows domain to provide DNS and DCHP to support each of those machine names.
What I need is the ability to open a remote desktop connection to the machine name of the currently selected record in a form. The machine name appears on the form as a hidden control or as a part of the recordset.
I do not fully understand the Remote Desktop Protocol, but would like to achieve as smooth and complete an integration as possible.
Ideally, the way it will work is....
click a button labelled 'open remote connection' and the correct Remote Desktop is displayed automatically. The log in etc is all handled in the background.
I can show you the database if need be but the only relevant part is one control on a form, therefore I would anticipate that you can give me a rough idea of capability to start with at least.
Once tis funtionality is in place, I would like to explore the possibility of, on log on, starting a service on the remote computer, running a program and then on log off, stopping the started service.
If it is possible for RDP to send information from one computer to another (eg a few pieces of text to be displayed HTML/VB app/Access db) this is also desirable.
I am entirely open to comments on this and am trying to get a feel for capability although I will need to get this exact work done very shortly. Therefore I am grateful for bids and comments.
