Commission Database in FoxPro

i have an old foxpro 2.5 commission check program that calculates revenues (minus several different taxes on gross receipts which vary by locale, what type of sales, etc), expenses (phone bills, loss carry forwards, vandalism charges, etc) and generates the commission checks based on the percentage a particular customer is due depending on their contract. customers can receive commissions based on many different circumstances. it also generates reports for some customers and not for others. all revenue and expense data is imported from simple comma-delimited text files. i have several questions. i have used commission programs in the past where an access database was used with vba language. it was horribly slow, it took one or two hours just to do all the calculations necessary to produce 400 commission checks out of 2000 payphones. in the current program, it only takes a few seconds. as far as commission reports, i want to be able to show the customer ONLY what i want them to see and this can vary from customer to customer. i also need to be able to generate a 3 month report each month so i can look over the commission report to spot any abnormally high or low variances (wouldn't be a bad idea to have the option to spit out a variance report based on a user entered percentage, i.e. show me all or some revenue that is 25% higher or lower than previous 3 months average. IS FOXPRO BETTER SUITED TO THIS TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT AND HENCE FASTER? WAS THE OTHER PROGRAM I USED JUST WRITTEN SO POORLY THAT THE QUERIES WERE NOT OPTIMIZED VERY WELL FOR SPEED? IS THE FACT THAT THE CURRENT ONE IS DOS BASED THAT MAKES IT BLAZINGLY FAST? DO I WRITE THIS IN FOXPRO AT ALL OR DO I INTEGRATE IT INTO MY CURRENT ANALYSIS PROGRAM WHICH IS WRITTEN IN VB5, SOON TO BE MIGRATED TO VB6? NO MATTER WHAT, I HAVE TO RETAIN THE EXISTING TABLE STRUCTURES WITH SOME POSSIBLE CHANGES SO I CAN USE THESE TABLES OR AT THE VERY LEAST BE ABLE TO IMPORT THEM SO I DON'T HAVE TO RE-ENTER ALL THE DATA AGAIN. i will be able to supply you with example reports currently generated, sample checks (which need to be very fluid since everyone uses different checks) i don't have the existing code but i can send you the program so you can see how it currently works. open to your suggestions, commments and bids! ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased. I ALSO WANT THIS TO BE FUNCTIONAL ENOUGH TO BE PACKAGED AND RESOLD TO OTHER VENDORS IN MY BUSINESS ARENA. ## Platform FOXPRO BUT MIGHT CONSIDER VB6 (I DON'T WANT TO UPGRADE TO VB .NET AND DON'T CONSIDER THE DIFFERENCES THERE TO BE NECESSARY FOR THIS PROJECT ANYWAY.
