Ammend Perl script code - add feature

I have a perl script tool that identifies errors in spun articles - done by a coder. I need this tool ammended to include another feature. Very simply - on a spun article, the perl tool currently recognizes and "corrects" back to back spun brackets - and adds a double space. example:? This - {word|word} {word|word} becomes this - {word|word}? {word|word} I need that changed. When the tool identifies back to back brackets, it should make an adjustment as follows. this: {word|word} {word|word} should become this: {word|word} { word| word} A space should be added between the word automatically, regardless of of how many words are spun... I have the perl code from the last developer for you to work from. Thanks ## Deliverables Please check the first description. It has everything. I do have the code from the last developer.
