Learning Objectives for this assignment This coursework will help develop your ability to: 1) critically discuss the role and powers of the various key practitioners in the built environment sector 2) advise on construction contact procedures and health and safety law 3) select and conduct appropriate dispute resolution procedures 4) critically discuss the influence of the needs of the client's organisation on the procurement process 5) advise on the selection of appropriate procurement options currently in use in the Uk; and Europe 6) compare and evaluate the current, emerging and innovative procurement issues in the facilities management, project management for construction and construction management processes 7) apply a working knowledge of decision making models for the systematic analysis and selection of suitable procurement paths and subsequent bid submissions PRESENTATION 25% weighting for module You are select a large project, currently at the planning stage (ie feasibility/outline design/ detailed design) for use in this study ( in excess of £10 million or equivalent). Your task is to carry out a desk -top study of the project and from that study to devise a suitable procurement system for use on the project. There is no geographical limit to the project you elect -the only criterion is that you should have access to sufficient source material which can be referenced. Your choice of building should be unique to you and must be presented to a panel for approval together with details of your principle source material on 5th March 2012. Division of marks for presentation Visual quality of presentation 25% Story Line/verbal presentation 20% Appropriateness of selected scheme 25% Identification of appropriate references 30% REPORT 75% Weighting for module After approval of your project choice you are to prepare a report cover: 1) Identification of key stakeholders (including funders) to the project and their priorities 2) Inherit risks in the project and the procurement route used 3) consider how reference to the British Standard on Construction Procurement (BS 8534:2011) could have mitigated the problems encountered on the project chosen.
