Climate change has created a menace of instability in some areas while others are under its threat. To prevent endangering results for the interests of the United States, the military has embarked on an intervention commission. It has begun initiatives in all continents in the bid to curb the menace whose repercussions are foreseen to be destructive. However, there is fear that if a republican becomes the president of the United States, they are likely to do away with the financial and resources aid channeled to the initiative because of their doubt that the change is unreal. The issue of climate change is subdivided into direct and indirect threats depending on its effect on the US. This paper analyzes the concerns raised on climate change and their validity.
Climate change is viewed as an instability accelerant. Climate change increases temperatures and the intensity of drought. This leads to loss of livestock and crops. As a result, people move to the cities in search of livelihood. Besides, people grow bitter and frustrated. In case of any trigger such as unrest and with; little or nothing to lose, they join in to vent their frustrations as is the case with Syria’s civil war in 2011. According to the US military, when other countries experience unrest, they indirectly affect the stability of United States. Therefore, they feel obligated to undertake a mission that would ensure US is safe at all times. After all, unstable countries such as Syria pose a terrorism threat to
