Hi, I have developed and implemented back-office software since the 1990s. Over the years I have acquired a deep knowledge of data modelling. I'm also a web developer and most of the sites I develop make use of numerous data sets. Many of these sites were migration and I have useful data cleansing skills too. I'm not sure what you mean by standalone especially in the context of a web-enabled application. Could you please clarify? Also without the full scope of the application it's difficult to give a fixed price quote. So my bid would need to be adjusted. It looks like your application covers a lot of different functional areas. To successfully deliver I would suggest splitting the project into phases. I would also suggest using a CMS (content management system) with a CCK (content construction kit) in order to inherit the low level features such as authentication and access rights for instance and focus on developing the specific features. It would be very helpful if you could share some documents for instance software documentation or procedure manuals for staff or a sample of the data (I'm willing to sign an NDA for sensitive data). As you've rightly pointed, I'd not like to jump to a solution or conclusion of approach. Rather I'd like to know certain details first to understand your current project and problems. 1. Why are you looking for converting from MS Access 2010? What are your key pain points? 2. How many users are currently using the application? Do you have multiple roles of users performing various distinct functionality? 3. Is this application accessed or shared from more than one PC/system? 4. Are you also looking for adding new functionality along with the migration? 5. What's the time frame you're looking for the new app to be ready? 6. Would you also need the current app running and capturing data until the new app is ready? (and more..) In general, I'd like to approach the solution in incremental steps by strangulating/starving the existing MS Access application. By this you'll get to 1. Test out the newer application alongside the old. 2. Faster feedback from users. 3. Easy to rollback on any critical issues. 4. Address the key pain points in the first pass and then decide on how to re-prioritize. This will also help you to plan your budget effectively. The's an automatic tool that will create an exe from your access called inno-setup compiler. But I would recommend you rather make it an online web app. That way all your team can access it (and you can easily secure it to members only). A very fast and easy way to do this would be to keep all the SQL code and just move it to MySQL, export the Access database, and then all forms to html. Then all the verification macros and any specific code must be manually moved to javascript. You are giving a generous budget which will allow for delivering some automated testing that the whole thing works correctly before delivered.
