This project is about changing the public IPs of a web server running on CentOS 5.7 with DirectAdmin control panel.
It is a standalone web server (no multi server setup on Directadmin) and it has several roles, such as web server (apache), mail server (dovecot), database server (mysql) dns server (bind) and name server. It also runs spamassassin and spam blocker from nobaloney.net..
This server has four IPs assigned from a specific subnet. Three of these IPs are utilized as follows:
.132: web server (hosts al the websites)
.133: nameserver 1
.134: nameserver2
.135: unused
We have purchased a /27 subnet (32 IPs) and we want to change the above IPs with three IPs of the new block (belong on a different subnet) with the minimum downtime and without losing the connection with the server. We need a smooth IP change, as this is about a production web server and it has several websites live.
The new block has of course different gateway, subnet & DNS servers comparing with the existing one.
We want to keep the old IPs on the server in addition with the new ones for a couple of days, until we realize that everything works fine.
We need to update the DNS zones of all the hosted websites, in order to use the new IPs.
The whole scope is to make this server belong on the same subnet with another one we have within the datacenter, so we could transfer the second nameserver on a VPS, for replication purposes. We will use the rest of the IPs from the new block on our ESXi Server (hosted with the datacenter as mentioned) and we also wanted to help us configure this as well. Please note that the ESXi server utilizes already some other IPs from another subnet (/28) and we want to add the new ones as well.
The whole operation has to be done this night (for our time zone +2, Athens - Greece) and ideally we would like to do it together through one of our systems, using teamviewer. The best time to start with it would be 22:00.
So, we are looking for your best offer for this small and easy project!
