Beat counter

For a proof-of-concept, I need to analyze a sound recording which has short, random sounds ("beats"), about 0.5 sec long each which are distinguishable from the background noise. For every beat I need to have the time (0.1 second accuracy) in which it occurred. I will need the program to identify the beats in *real time* and graph them on a graph which will show time on the horizontal scale and the beat number on the vertical scale. This is for the proof-of-concept.
