Hello! I have experience programming in C / C + + for almost 20 years. Devices based on Arduino, I'm doing more than 3 years. I have experience writing applications "client-server" for the Arduino, writing applications to interface Arduino and Android, integration of Arduino and Processing. I have experience making "smart house" on the Arduino (arduino, php, javascript, AJAX, JSON). Arduino will be the most suitable platform for implementing the project you described. I am a big fan of Arduino myself and have implemented hundreds of interesting projects on this platform. However, I think a complete media center will be much more advanced and exciting as your college project, instead of just a simple mp3 player. The media center can be implemented with Raspberry Pi as follows: 1. Raspberry Pi will be connected to a TV (making it a smart TV) 2. You computer can act as a server (having movies, music, TV shows etc.) 3. Raspberry Pi will fetch media from you computer and play it on TV through LAN 4. The TV can be controlled through Android app. It is much more than just mp3 player. Both the projects are good and I start working immediately on the one you like more.
