Position Summary:
Supports the UM Department by performing duties of varied and diverse clerical tasks, which may include a combination of bookkeeping, typing, drafting correspondence, note/minute-taking, department machine operation, filing, mail handling and answering phones.
Essential Job Functions:
Receive, process and input UM related data and notes into system.
Inputs and corrects patient demographic information in the system.
Audits work for accuracy, balances against controls and corrects mistakes.
Process and input request related services from providers and their office staff.
Compiles, copies, sorts, and files health records, claims transactions, department and organizational activities.
Computes, records, and proofreads data and other information on health and/or claim records and reports.
Addresses, stamps, sorts, and distributes mail, packages, and other materials by hand or with a machine.
Answers telephone, responds to requests and delivers messages.
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Minimum Experience
Six months to one year specialized secretarial/office support training
experience in applying general office policies and procedures and handling of confidential information
Experience with medical terminology preferred.
Education/Licensure:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Skills and Abilities:
Language Skills: Strong communication skills both written and verbal to work with multiple internal and external clients in a fast-paced environment Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
