Build a Website to Process HTTP JSON Requests, Use Python Mechanize, and maintain dB via Web. * Preferred to be hosted application (GoogleApp or similar) * Must be highly available, easy to backup, restore, etc. * Service must be always running to receive HTTP posts in JSON - App must process JSON posts and pull out domain names - App must only accept HTTP posts from whitelist of IP addresses - App must make dB of information pulled from posts - Each IP will be associated with a client - dB for client must include unique client ID, client name, contact first/last name, email address for login, domains submitted from client * Domain dB will include all domains submitted, client ID, date last submitted * Schedule task to delete domains over selected period of time (30 days default) * GUI interface to be similar to another website * Need to view/edit/modify/report on data * Expect client records to be in hundreds * Expect domain records to be < 100,000 Web app will then use mechanize or equivalent to login to another website using supplied username/password. * Each client will have separate login username/password * Acting as a user, the app will add/delete domain name values Open to suggestions on how to implement. Application must be securely coded. Hello, I'd like to help you with this project. * Where would you recommend hosting? Some cloud VPS hosting, i.e. linode, rackspace, digital ocean. You've mentioned GAE, but google's pricing can be rather high if the app would require a lot of resources. * What languages would you recommend? Python, of course * How would you recommend to provide security and good coding? I would use nginx server with django framework, so that would be a secure setup and maintainable code. Regards, Stas

Hello, I've been working with Python since last 3 years and I've great experience in handling various API based sites in Python. I've done several projects involving mechanize, Django, Django Rest Framework on freelancer. Please go through my reviews to see the quality of my work. Answers to your questions: 1. Where would you recommend hosting? I will personally recommend amazon EC2 linux servers as they provide complete shell access to server, so file handling, database handling, installing any software is smooth since they provide complete administrative access. 2. What languages would you recommend? I will recommend Python 2.7 with Django and Django rest framework. Since you require HTTP JSON POST, Django rest framework handles it very well. Django provide complete administrative access to webpages with ease. 3. How would you recommend to provide security and good coding? Django and Python by default include lots of security and good coding practices. Additionally I would recommend HTTPS based request and HMAC authentication for each post request. IP whitelisting can be done by Django rest framework. Mechanize handles cookies very well so security of that part is handled automatically.

AWS - Since AWS is the biggest provider of cloud services today, and it provide services for handling scaling and highly available and have good amount of experience working on that, so would be a preferred choice. * What languages would you recommend? Scala, Since it is the very latest in the market with good functional techniques, i think its good to develop a reliable and big systems with it. There are so many web frameworks written in scala, and will be used if given work, to solve some critical problems * How would you recommend to provide security and good coding? Well i assure you the app would be highly available, secure and with good coding practices deployed over AWS and will provide support later too post project completion too.
