Tabloid newspaper layout - education audience

This work involves doing layout for a tabloid newspaper using inDesign. The newspaper varies from 16 to 28 pages and is published 17 times per year (every three weeks). You will probably have 15 to 30 hours total work per month, with no weekend work expected. Expect content for layout to flow piecemeal, one or two pages at time, over a 2-week period for each issue. We go to press on every third Wednesday, so be available on those days for final changes and file preparation for the printer (high resolution PDF) by 5 pm EST. Photos will need color correction and vector manipulation for web press. Be prepared after your initial layout to make editorial corrections (routinely needed after proofreading). You will be able to rely on the editor to help solve problems, e.g. too much copy, too little copy, need another photo, etc. You should care about our mission: helping school leaders know what they need to know to make better decisions and telling the story of public education.
