We require the creation of an informative and easy to follow step by step instruction manual for Beauty Therapy Students to assist them in setting up a Mobile and/or home business in any State or territory in Australia.
The manual must be easy to read and understand. Contain relevant web links to required Government registration websites (eg ASIC) and instructions on what to do once they are there.
The manual must be thorough enough that when the Student follows each step they will have a ready to go business in the shortest amount of time and fully understand their responsibilities.
The manual needs to be broken down into 6 categories for easy reference:
1. Business Plan
A step by step business plan document in a work book format created around designing their own Mobile or Home Beauty business including things like:
• potential start up costs,
• Naming the business, services offered, point of difference
• logo/branding - what to think about when designing identity. Any examples would be beneficial
• Where to get funding to assist in starting up the business – provide options
2. Registering a Business/Trading name
How to register a Company or trading name (if at all) and the general benefits of doing either ie tax benefits, public identity etc
3. The Responsibilities of owning a business
Their responsibilities when starting a business and running a small mobile/home business – Tax returns, insurance, duty of care, any government required licensing or when workers compensation that may be required etc
Types of Insurances they should have and what these insurances will cover in the event of an accident or potential claim – provide hypothetical examples
4. Marketing/branding
What forms of marketing will help them achieve the best result and estimated start-up cost in do so – business cards, flyers, posters, website etc
a. Tips for a successful promotion
b. Common marketing pitfalls
c. Logo and branding – how to create the right brand for you
5. Risk Management
Steps – what to do to avoid/minimise exposing yourself to potential risk – related to Mobile or Home business
a. Client history forms – provide a general template
b. Where to get advice from - Business services like “Business Enterprise Centre (BECs)/Government department contact details
6. Accounting
A basic Accounting Excel format to assist in keeping track of their expenses, start-up costs and profits from services.
