Web site for a small community, integrating your own software and freeware scripts, developed in PERL, to create a small & simple social network, and a way to disseminate information between tenants securely.
You may choose to integrate freeware to develop the portal, but in the PERL language in order for us to give support internally later. We do not want to use third-party programs such as 'wordpress' or 'joomla' as content management. It is intended that the content will be simple and can be stored in flat file databases.
The elements that need to be integrated to the portal are:
a) Links to sponsors, link rotation.
b) Control user access & validation, including adding people and housing. - Identify and access permissions based on user type to be created, eg.: I) owner, ii) resident, iii) additional person (spouse, son, etc.), iv) others, or a combination of the above including permission to vote in polls in the community.
c) Information Centre for the community, including regulations, etc.. - Fixed information.
d) Schedule of events, including log book of service use as a ballroom and community barbecues with comments.
e) News Alerts with comments.
f) Photo Galleries with comments.
g) Private messages.
h) Message boards/forums.
i) Chat.
j) Fact Sheet, or newspaper (newsletter), subscribtion and cancelling.
k) Condo's directory (for authorized personel only).
l) Personal Pages for the tennants.
m) Classified ads (internal and public).
n) Guestbook.
o) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
p) Voting (polling)
q) Accounting Balance of the costs of the community, including linking the spending the document, the description or source of income, who, and under what circumstances allows the movement, and the balance of the account.
r) Management Area to add, update and control content (backend for adding, updating and managing content).
s) Security and maintenance logs for security and maintenance pesonnel.
Additional Requirements:
a) Content for posts, classified ads and other info, can be marked as public or private, as well as personal pages.
b) Using updateable templates.
c) Separating text content to allow use of other languages -- create language files to be able to use the portal in more than one language at any given time (user should be able to select on getting to the site). You must provide 2 language setup files, one in englsih and the other we will translate from english to spanish for you as required.
d) Creation of icons or buttons for navigation within the portal. We do not require the development of logos, these will be provided, as well as fixed content.
e) Auto-backup each time period specified. This support can be to another server, or archive content to 'zip' or 'rar' or 'tar' backup files.
Phase 1 of the project:
Create a demo site as described above.
No programming is required to work, just the basic layout and feel of how the components would be integrated into the portal and color schemes. Example of updateable template.
Examples would need to illustrate the feel of the objects, not just descriptions like 'here is the message'.
Detail free software to be integrated into the portal components and provide links to relevant information or online demos of them, or describe the functionality of what you plan to do.
Provide an estimate of cost and time to integrate this project and bring it to production. This quote should include a monthly maintenance fee for the maintenance work detailed in Phase 3 of the project, but separately. In other words, whoever wins the auction of the implementation will not necessarily be responsible for maintaining the portal.
