Upgrade Gallery2-CVS to latest stable

I have a Gallery2 installation from year 2006, CVS version. I need to upgrade this to the latest stable version. Code can be probably easily upgraded, since I'm using no special modules, except some simple custom hacks to code. However database structure should be carefully reviewed and upgraded as neccessary. I'm not sure whether we should upgrade this Gallery2 CVS version to stable 2.3.1 (current latest stable) or directly to Gallery 3.0.1. Regarding to this, I do not care, I just want to have on some certain stable version, which can be upgraded further. Gallery URL is: [login to view URL] It is integrated to my site, but I can separate just Gallery2 part and put it on separate domain. You will work on this domain. Once work is done, I'll do integration to my site, so there is no need for you to hasle with this integration. You do just the Gallery2 work;) Along with this I also need to remove spam comments, but I remember that I removed all the comments and tunerd comments system off some time ago. So I just need to know how much comments are in the database when your suggestion what to do with them. Commenting system may be enabled in upgraded version, however only with active anti-spam protection.
