The main driver for this project is to save time currently being wasted carrying out tasks manually that could be automated. I own a UK based computer/telephony business that sells products (phones, servers, CCTV cameras, etc.) via the website, [url removed, login to view] and via eBay.co.uk. Uploading the product listing information onto each separately is very time consuming and prone to errors. To ensure a common invoice format and sequential numbering we currently manually create invoices (just using OpenOffice Writer) and then email them to customers using a basic email template, which again is extremely time consuming and prone to errors. To provide tracking information we have to log on to eBay, Amazon, and the website to manually enter the relevant tracking info.

If the invoices from eBay, Amazon, and the website could be automatically created and emailed in pdf format with sequential invoice numbers (using the same invoice numbering scheme across all sales channels) then that would save a significant amount of time. Software is available (e.g. [url removed, login to view]) which claims to provide this kind of functionality but there may be different ways of doing it.

The website has been built using osCommerce (v2.2 RC1) and has about 100 products listed (many of which have multiple product attributes). There are hundreds more products that we can get shipped direct from our distributors but they are not listed on the website or amazon/ebay as its too time consuming to load them on. There are osCommerce sites like Kiketek ([url removed, login to view]) that list thousands of products on their website and the same products on Amazon, but I don't know what they have done to automate things.

Accounting is another time consuming process as sales on eBay, Amazon, and the website are all manually input onto the accounting system (currently a simple spreadsheet based system). The ideal solution would be for all the eBay, Amazon, and website sales to be input automatically into the accounting system, which it is presumed would require migration to any an accounting system that supports this kind of integration. Alternatively, if all the eBay, Amazon, and website sales could be captured and exported (e.g. as a CSV file) then these could be easily imported into the existing accounts system (e.g daily or weekly).

We have been happy with osCommerce, but if you think it would be better to move to a different platform in order to save time/money in the longer term then we are open to suggestions. For example, if the successful bidder has experience of integrating eBay and Amazon with an an e-commerce alternative to osCommerce (e.g. Magento, Ubercart) along with automated invoicing and easy product listing management then we would be happy to migrate as this would likely be less expensive than the osCommerce integration/development costs. However, any alternative solution would need to be able to support all the feature that the current osCommerce based site supports including things like:

1) PayPal, Google Checkout, and bank transfer (automated email with bank details) payment options

2) Support for Royal mail and user defined courier shipping options for UK and international (mainly European) customers.

3) 2-tier pricing (standard retail and reseller) dependant on user profile.

4) Price discounts for bulk buys, e.g. 5+. 10+

5) Zero VAT for EU customers with valid VAT number and international customers.

6) Google base / shopping automated feed creation.

A summary of the integration/development requirements described above in order of priority is as follows:

1) An easy method to upload/manage product listings on eBay, Amazon, and the website, i.e. to upload new products and change prices/details for existing products.

2) Automated creation/sending of invoices using sequential numbering for orders received via all three sales channels.

3) Integration with an accounting system for all three sales channels, or alternatively if integration would be too complex or expensive, a method of capturing/exporting the sales data in CSV format to make it easy to import into an accounting system.

4) Potential extras (if they can be provided within budget): a) automated price check script to check our prices against main competitors, b) automated product information capture to obtain product information from other websites to upload/list on our website/eBay/Amazon

Required Skills and expectations:

- Extensive experience with osCommerce and potentially other e-commerce solutions such as Magento, Ubercart, etc.

- Experience with eBay shops/listings and Amazon Marketplace

- Proactive/creative approach to provide direction and increase integration/automation as much as possible

- Excellent written English skills

- Regular communication via email or MSN required

- Weekly reports on completed tasks

- Ability to complete the project within 3 weeks is essential

To apply please provide the following information:

1) Brief description of proposed solution including software to be used and level of automation/integration that will be provided

2) Estimates for time-scales for completion of individual project tasks

3) References for similar projects along with contact information if you have them

4) Link to freelance site feedback like Scriptlance or Getafreelancer, etc. if you have it

This is the first of a number of web/ecommerce projects that the successful bidder will be offered following satisfactory completion of the first project. Once this project is finished the follow on project will be to integrate the website and eBay/Amazon with dropship suppliers ordering systems so that orders are automatically placed/despatched (ordering is currently a manual process dependant on email). In parallel, I also need to implement a telecoms website (selling SIP trunks, telephone lines, SIM cards, etc) with automated ordering/billing links to a partners billing platform which will have a budget that will be of equal value to this project or greater.

Thanks,

Richard
