Create WordPress Template for Church

This project involves the creation of a new custom WordPress theme. The theme is fairly simple and straightforward but must include best standards as dictated by the WordPress community as well as the wider web development community. Some examples of the best practices we expect to be utilized are: - Use of HTML5 and CSS3. - Commented Markup/CSS. - SEO Semantic Coding (we’ll be using Yoast’s products, any functionality built into these products doesn’t need to be included in the theme). - Optimized for Retina Displays. - Optimized for Load Speed. - Microformats. - WAI 2.0 / Section 508 Compliant. - Use of WordPress Customizer not third party solutions such as OptionTree. - Compatible Across Browsers: IE9+, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera. - Compatible Across Devices: Large, Standard, Small devices - e.g., Desktop/Laptop, Large Screen, Medium (Tablets), Small (Phones). - Following practices outlined for theme development by WordPress, e.g., the WordPress Theme Handbook. DESIGN We had a theme created for us but are unhappy with the code quality. We will provide you with the URL and, if desired, the source code for this theme. We don’t expect you to reuse any of the existing code, but the existing them does display the layout and color scheme we would like implemented on this new theme. OPEN FOR DISCUSSION We are open to discussing implementation details across the board. Some common areas that you might want to discuss with us include: If a CSS Framework such as Twitter’s Bootstrap or Zurb’s Foundation will be used. If a CSS Preprocessor such as Sass will be used. Which CSS Reset will be used, e.g. Meyer’s or Normalize.css.
