JS expert - a JS only method to distinguish current device is in intranet or internet

we have a web application that needs a JS to tell if the current device is on intranet or the internet, 1) intranet has few internal server, ping them will be the possible way but JS does not directly support ping. 2) intranet has own DNS, making root AD domain name is pointing to AD(on the intranet) instead of pointing to the web server(on internet). or any way you can suggest, there just one limitation, it must JS only and do not depend on any other server side language please brief to tell me how you will do, I will not read those only post portfolio candidate .

It can probably be done by entering in any no avaible page in that intranet if you just want to know. the problem is if you want it at live time, but it surely can be done.

If I am not wrong you want to run an App on local Network ?? If that is so, we can do so with Node.js, which is a javascript Platform, to create servers. We can deploy the node app on you local network
