Request for Proposal – Data Buffet Concept
This is a request for a proof of concept that proves whether or not a specific approach is feasible and cost effective for regulated industries. The approach involves locating data in a cloud-based datastore and making it available from there, rather than continuing point-to-point file-based integration.
Skills for Success
o You have your own dev environment and platform, and can code and demo from that platform.
o You are experienced with JSON, XML, and comfortable with open source development on cloud environments such as Amazon AWS and similar.
o You work fast and are expert at selecting and reusing open source code components rather than reinventing the wheel.
Required features to demonstrate
1. Upload a file (xml or .csv) to a Ceph based data store such as Dreamobjects or similar.
2. Once it is uploaded display a grid showing the data elements contained in the file
3. Let the user select the data elements they wish to make available
4. Let the user specify whether these data elements can be available for download as an extract or via REST service call, or both.
5. Let the user specify who will be allowed to call/access this data.
6. Demonstrate that the data can be called/downloaded by an authorized user, but not by an unauthorized user.
Additional Assumptions and Notes
o This is a prototype, so we are flexible on what platform is used.
o We are primarily interested in learning the following: 1) the level of security compliance a solution like this can attain; 2) the operating effort and cost involved in managed a solution like this; 3) will the process be user friendly and easy for people to adopt.
o We anticipate this will take the qualified coder 20-40hrs and are prepared to pay 80hr for a total not to exceed $3200, upon acceptance by us.
o You will be an independent contractor and not an employee or partner of us.
o We expect that we will have the right to use the code if we wish for further work, and to use the approaches we learn in future tools or solutions we may develop.
o Any code, product, or work (Deliverables) created during this engagement constitutes “work made for hire” and we are the sole and exclusive owner of all right, title and interest in and to the work. If not deemed a “work made for hire” then you agree to an irrevocable worldwide assignment of any intellectual property rights in the Deliverables. Any "moral rights" or rights of droit moral with respect to the Deliverables shall be waived by you.
o You will need to work with your own tools, platform and hosting solution, and be prepared to demo from there. You will not be given access to our corporate systems, tools or software.
