Legal is one of the most competitive industries on Google ads where clicks can cost USD 100 or more for some keywords like "car accident lawyer" or "personal injury attorney."
The CPC that you pay is influenced by different factors such as your city, competition, quality score, etc.
When CPC is so high for the legal industry, you can't afford to go and bid, without an exact strategy or the expertise that is required you will fail because a little error can cost you thousands of dollars in losses.
So, when I start working with a client, my whole strategy for law firm marketing on Google starts with three steps:
1- Identify your competitors and keyword research
I Identify and analyze your competitors on Google ads and get some data about their campaigns with tools like Semrush, Spyfu, and Ispionage about the following:
Which keywords they are bidding on and probably which ones are generating cases for them
Which Landing pages they are using and how they write their ads
How much they are spending monthly
That allows me to have so much data about the keywords that other of your competitors are bidding on, and I use this as a base to start the keyword research, discover some long term keywords to get traffic cheaper, etc. At the end of this step, you end with the keywords of your competitors as well as new long-tail keywords that they may not be using.
2- Build landing pages
Using tools like Unbounce, we design custom landing pages for each one of your services, the reason for that is get a better conversion rate compared if you send the traffic to your homepage, and get a High Quality Score on Google so we can pay less for each click.
3- Optimize and tweak
There are a lot of things I take into consideration after we launch to optimize the campaigns such as:
Regularly add negative keywords.
Launch ad groups of 1 or 2 keywords to keep the relevance high.
Split test with ads to discover which ones provide better CTR.
Manage bids per device.
Use high intent buyer keywords only etc.
