I am working in the Water Resources field since August, 1999 immediately after completing my Masters in Business Administration. During this period, I have worked with Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) for 8 years and rest of the period and till now even, I am working with Punjab Irrigation Department, India. BBMB is responsible for Operation and Maintenance of big Hydropower Reservoirs on world famous Bhakra & Pong dams. During my association with BBMB, I gained valuable experience in the field of Water Resources, Hydropower Development, Canal Irrigation etc. During this period only, I also developed skills in the field of Geo-Informatics viz. Remote Sensing, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems. I also worked on a World Bank funded project the objective of which was to establish a Real-Time Decision Support System (RT-DSS) for Integrated Management of Hydropower Reservoirs which necessitated working with hydrological and hydraulic models, state of the art data acquisition technology and advanced communication systems for real-time management of Bhakra and Pong reservoirs in an integrated manner. The RT-DSS to be developed would be capable of integrating real-time DAS, real-time data from external sources (e.g. weather forecasts), forecast modelling and optimization tools and analysis and decision support tools in a single IT system designed for ease of use. While working for this project, I developed essential skills in the field of Rainfall Runoff and River Basin Modelling, Hydrological & Hydrodynamic Modelling using state of the art computerised Models. For achieving the same, I underwent training at prestigious Institutes such as National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India and Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI), Copenhagen, Denmark (Under DANIDA Fellowship programme). Presently, I am working as Executive Engineer for Punjab Irrigation Department, India. During this period, I have held many responsible posts for the management of Surface Water Resources in the state of Punjab including Rivers, Dams and associated Canals.
