Hi, I need proper texture for areca plam plates for my models.

The models are ready, but sampling a small part of palm plate for texture, and tiling it up even with photoshop touch, does not provide good results.

So I would like to get texture created from scratch in photoshop using filters, to be able to apply to the models.

At least 4 distinct textures needed.

The plate images are attached. Please let me know if possible.

Remember: No sampling from real plate image. Expectation is to create from scratch in Photoshop. This is not only needed to maintain uniqueness, uniformity, reality, but to be able to generate more unique textures later out of same method.

I have also illustrated, what is going wrong in my current attempt to create the texture myself (illustrated in wrong texture file), and a sample of how its needed (correct texture file). As you can see, wrong texture file, I ended up getting like a wooden plate, smooth surfaced, no clear linings visible. But in correct texture file, the lines are visible, thin, giving a rough surface perception , ah well I hope you get the point. you could compare and check.

I have also attached the 3ds max 3d model file, so you could directly apply and show the rendered image (which is most useful result to convince me, that the texture is as expected).

Deliverables: Images and Source file along with workflow description. If illustrated in 3d model directly, then the respective 3d model file (more points).

Entry 21 and 22 are competing very close to each other. Great job from both of you. Given individual feedback. Overall, Arindam got the textures surface almost perfect, but overall tint is yellowish. While Daniel, got the coloring perfect, textures nearing perfection.

Even after below explanation here in board, I am still getting entries not even remotely resembling areca plates. Please take time to first evaluate the palm plate surface and then proceed.

@All contestants: Please check the attachments, first get the idea of how the areca plate surface looks like, observe and then start working on it. This is not a simple wooden texture or grainy one created in photoshop filters. Yes filters may need to be used, but please ensure you closely resemble the actual areca plam surface. Do not send entries of normal wooden textures or grainy ones and waste all of our time.
