Hi. I'm looking for a designer(s) I can work with long-term on a variety of shirt designs. This contest is a search, of sorts, to see if I can find the right designer. (I tried Fiverr and was not happy with the results.)

The Assignment:

I'd like a shirt design using typography and some accent iconography. The type and graphics should be selected/created specifically for this design (vs cookie-cutter/template). While the type should be dominant in the design, I am not looking for a tacky typography shirt with gigantic lettering across the entire shirt front. I'm looking for tasteful and cool. I'm including examples of designs I appreciate for their balanced use of typography and iconography. I tend to lean toward a distressed, hand-drawn look, but those are not requirements. I'm open to other, cleaner directions as well.

The Audience:

This shirt will be marketed to musicians, songwriters and people who work in the music production industry. Needs to be something that musicians would think is cool. It should appeal to both males and females. Many of the examples I'm providing are from Nashville-related designs, simply because there's a big music culture there and lots of merchandising. Much of my audience is in NYC, Chicago and LA, so the design is not required to have a "country" feel. The musicians could be rock, jazz, pop, classical...anything.

The Copy:

"Music is the reason I get up... every afternoon."

It's meant to be humorous (musicians sleep all day and play at night). You can use all caps, break up the text and emphasize words, of course, in any way you feel works. Example:

MUSIC
is the reason
I get up...
Every afternoon

The personal statement the Shirt-Wearer is making: Music is my life.

Iconography:

Incorporate a single or multiple music-related icon(s) (music notes, bars, symbols, etc.) Don't use any specific instruments, headphones, vinyl, or turntables. You could also incorporate sun/rays to tie to “afternoon.” Not a requirement.

Specs:

Size: Within 14" x 19" @ 300 dpi
Usage: For commercial use
Deliverables: Flattened PNG @ 300 dpi and editable file (PSD or eps)
