My team are undergoing a major transformation program which will take about 18 months to 2 years. I spend a lot of time talking to people about this, both in my team and outside it. I would like to have a way that I can explain certain aspects of the program visually, because otherwise it's a lot of words and bullets on a PowerPoint which is boring and ineffective.
The first message I want to convey is the extent of the challenge and how it will take time and a lot of shared effort on many small things which might not always seem relevant but overall will make a difference. The other message is why we need to change, and that it will be hard because we have to keep things going. Other relevant information: we are a technical team inside a public company.
The analogy I'm using a lot is that we are like a penny farthing bike, that we need to convert into a state of the art car (and eventually a jet, then a rocket) while continuing to keep running all the while. So I would like to illustrate this with a story/cartoon, that shows the stages, from a penny farthing on a country road, to 4 wheels, to adding an engine, etc. I think probably 8 images in total.
