Alter a WP template widget

We purchased the Bolid template from Themeforest but need to modify one of the widgets that came with it (original theme developer is not available to make the change). We need the Vergo - Home Slider + widget (which currently shows a square-shaped slider with a column of featured posts beside it) to show just a slider taking up the full current width of the widget (without that second column). Note that the new widget must adapt well to mobile, as the whole site is currently responsive. We can supply the PHP/style files from the template to work from.

i have 4 years of experience as a php developer and have done 40 projects on wordpress including the themeforests themes.
