Data Visualisation Web Site Part 2

Task

In part 1 of this assignment, you had to create a web site that provided a visualisation of a data source. In part 2, you are to create a Windows 8 store application that provides a visualisation of the data source.

If your data for part 1 was in a relational database, you should provide a web service, hosted on your Azure web space, which provides access to that data as a structured data source (for example XML or JSON).

If your data source provides the data via a web service, you can access that data directly from your Windows 8 application (i.e. you will not need to provide a web service of your own).

You must also write a brief report about your application that includes the following:

 A description of any particularly innovative features of your application or the visualisation created.

 If you are using a different data source to that used in part one, include:

- The location of the original data

- A description of any manipulation of the data that was required in order for it to be usable by your application. For example, if you needed to load the data into a relational database, you should describe the process used to do so

The purpose of this report is to assist in the marking of your assignment.

Important

If you wish, you may use a different data source to that used for part 1. However, each student on this module must provide a visualisation of a different dataset, i.e. no two students may use the same dataset. To ensure this occurs, if you wish to change your data source, you must notify the module leader by email of which dataset you intend to use for part 2 by 4pm Friday April 26th 2013. You will receive an email acknowledging whether your use of the dataset is acceptable for this assignment or whether someone has already chosen it (or it is unsuitable for some other reason). In this case, you will need to choose another dataset and notify the module leader accordingly.

You only need to notify the module leader if you intend to change the dataset used.

Technologies

Your Windows 8 store application must be written using C# and XAML. You may use third-party controls if you wish, but you must provide them with your solution.
