Design a PCB with 20 x solid state relays.

We have 20 x cabinet doors that we need to monitor if they are open or closed. They have a contact that triggers when they are open. When the door is open, a red LED must flash and a buzzer must sound. When the door is closed a green LED must be illuminated. Total of 20 x Red LEDs and 20 x Green LEDs.

There needs to be an IDC connector for the LEDS.

We will have multiple LED panels in the building to monitor the doors so there needs to be a screw terminal connections to allow slave LED panels to be connected to the master to mimic the master. This is so we can monitor the state of the doors from any panel we chose to install.

All the PCB will have independant mute buttons to mute the buzzer for a programmable period (5-20 minutes) This is non latching button that when pushed will cut power to the buzzer for a programmable period. Should another relay be triggered the buzzer must activate again immediately.

All PCB must have independant test buttons, when these are pressed ALL LEDS must light up and buzzer must sound to check all are working fine. We used diodes to achieve this to prevent feedback. This function is independent for each panel. This means that when the momentary test button is pushed ONLY that panels LEDS will turn on and buzzer and the mimics will not be affected. This is the same for any mimic panel.

NOTE: RELIABILITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT! Opto isolators, reverse polarity protection for the DC power source must be included.

We have built this using microcontrollers but prefer the simplicity and reliability of a solid state relay based system. Please do not suggest using microcontrollers. In the future we can look at integrating a microcontroller for remote monitoring of the system and for RS485/232 communication but this will be secondary and will not affect the function of the relay based system.
