Job: Take over an existing javascript project based on OpenCV library to do measurement on photos. R&D project. Curious mind welcome.
- Setup a measurement protocol based on random shape detected on photos
- Compare them accurately in term of size to existing templates
- Integrate into existing website, with proper html tags
- Iterate over protocol to reduce error and increase accuracy
Here is a point of the current status of the project:
Last week-end, I did the 'sample' part, (taking photo of every sample you gave me). You can find them in the 'sample' folder on the cloud.
This week-end I finally ended the measurement method I had expected would work. And it didn't worked, unfortunately.
This is what I did:
- Find the heel of the foot contour
- Find the 'middle of the foot' which is consider so far the middle of the bounding box around the foot area
- On the line between the heel and the middle of the foot, move 30 mm and 50 mm from the heel
- Get the perpendicular line to the one previously described, and detect where it cross the path of the foot contour, up and down
- Measure the distance between the dots found for the up cross and down cross.
Applying this procedure to samples gave me this table:

When I run the same algorithme on the picture of my own foot, it gives

According to the table, it should be F or G. But my foot is actually an I.
So, either the table is not close enough from reality, or the measurement protocol I just described is not precise enough.
