Flask REST Project to Read data from a database and return as JSON

I have the need for a REST application that will read data from a database table and return as JSON.
The database will need to be agnostic - ability to switch via config file between:
MySQL
MSSQL
Oracle
Cassandra
In other words - ability to switch from traditional RDMS to NoSQL without code changes.
REST interface will be of a simple type:
@application('/list', methods=['GET'])
def getList():
and in the function the ability to call the SQL / CSQL etc and return jason encoded string
The purpose of this mini-project is to gauge skills sets in creating the required framework.
