Data Entry and Reporting Site for Collectors

This project is an internet-based database system that enables collectors to track and manage their collections.

Not only is the software intended to be of value to large-scale collectors who need a database to keep track of their holdings, but it is also designed to assist all collectors with insurance claims in the event of loss: Site users should be able to print a report for any or all of the items in their collections. The data for each item will contain all the relevant data that provides evidence of its worth, including pictures. In addition, the site should assist with maintenance schedules and inventory management.

**Please read the attached requirements document**, but don't let it scare you. I am a Systems Architect, so writing detailed designs is what I do. :-)

The document includes functional requirements, a schema design, a data dictionary, GUI designs, and? a DDL script that will create the required tables. Most of the nit-picky sounding requirements are things I know you would already do (e.g. data validation and supplying default data? where appropriate). I'm just used to specifying everything.

You'll be most interested in the general requirements on pages 3 and 4, and the user interface mock-ups that start on page 26.

**I've actually done a lot of the groundwork for you and have very clear requirements**, so this should be a pretty straightforward effort for someone who has done data entry and reporting on the web before.

There are about four or five major data input forms, and then the report generator (which allows users to select filter and sort criteria). My guess is this about 7? or 8? days for an experienced developer.

I'm not in a major hurry, so if you can bid less by spreading the work over more time, please feel free to do so. I do have some commitments in mid-May, however, so it can't go out too far.

Also note that I'm not infatuated with my own design... if you have some better ideas--especially with the user interface--I'd be delighted to hear them.

Just FYI: I wouldn't run the DDL script just yet. I'm still tweaking some of the columns in the schema. I will update the document before finalizing a bid with anyone.
