Customizing Wordpress (Simple)

I currently have an almost fresh install of WordPress setup on my website. I need someone to customize my website so that my team and I can publish our light novels. We plan to do it in chapters, you can see lots of examples similar to what we want done on these websites:

We don't want anything done like graphics, or text-wise (content). Simply just setting it up so that it's similar to these sites.
I reckon this is a small time job with not many obstructions nor is it very advanced.
Do note that the theme installed can be trashed and I'm open to recommendations on which theme to use as the shell.
