I am currently working on an Odoo 8.0 system that will eventually have a website and shopping cart using the Odoo site builder system. However after running multiple Magento/Joomla sites I have discovered a fatal design flaw in Odoo 8.0 which is that I cannot find any method to insert page meta-data (meta-tags) or alt-image tags for ecommerce pages.
What I would like to develop is a modification to the "product" page in the backend that will allow for 5 extra data fields which will be stored in the database along with all other product data so it can be imported/exported.
1) Meta-Description
2) Meta-Tags
3) Alt-Image tags
4) Robots Directive (index,follow)..etc.
5) Content-Language
The Meta information needs to be inserted into the page using a call function. Furthermore the meta-data needs to use the translation feature found in Odoo so that site pages in alternative languages will have meta tags translated.
This is not a rush project, we have time to work with. We were developing a site in Magento and bridging a POS platform but recently opted to use Odoo instead for the entire project. We will have several other modifications to perform as well in the future, but need this one completed first so we can upload products.
We believe this is a fairly simple project, but having little experience in Odoo/Python we are choosing to outsource the project.
