Hi, I am a business person who has a Veterinary Hospital several thousand kilometers away from where I am where I work as a Medical Doctor in Australia, and we are having shocking problems with internet ADSL-2 Failures and NBN Failures. In order to see what is taking place I have a remote TXT-Based Monitoring System. As part of the Remote Monitoring I have implemented is to have the modems remotely monitored by using the (LED Status outputs within the Modems) paralleled with LED/Photo-resistor optical interface of which the output channelled through a time delay circuit so as to avoid errors, and then to a TXT GSM Dialler to inform me of 1. Power Failure to the Modem, 2. Internet not connected, 3. LAN circuits if not intact. I can also use the TXT Dialler to Reboot the Modems via a TXT Command by my IT Engineer. I want to add to this existing system a little black box (Arduino or whatever) to ping the internet site and report on various failures (eg: no ping response at a reliable site or a very slow and unsatisfactory connection) I think that this involves some software design, of which I am not capable. Upon detecting a failure it is to send a high or low output to the TXTing Device so as to initiate an Alert TXT informing the recipients that there is a connection problem.
