We are looking for a skillful and experienced graphic designer to create a template for a website. We have designers and coders in our team so we are hoping to find a freelancer designer to use on a regular bases on all our overflow projects. The template designs needed would be for a homepage layout and then one generic layout for all the other pages. The designs would not need to be coded up in html/css as we can do that inhouse, so a PSD file with layers would be fine, although if you can also code up CLEAN html/css then that would be an added benefit to your proposal but it is not essential.

We would supply the winner with full specifications of the amount of links needed for the navigation and then it would be up to the designer to create a UI that suits this. A large selection of high quality imagery will be supplied aswell as a list of competitors sites and the existing old website which you will be redesigning.

Below is explained how we will be running this project and the three bidders who we choose as finalist will be expected to create a custom template which suits the topic, we could easily just go to a template site and buy a template, change around the main image and present this. Instead we are looking for someone to do their homework, study the requirements and then produce a custom design that suits the project. At this stage though we are just looking for your previous work and any other details you can give about the project or your skill set. Also what you would provide for this project, how many samples, is their revisions etc. Anything that will help us choose you over other bidders, price is important too. Below is a discription of how we will run this project, Since this is a new idea we would also like feedback from those who think its good and those who think it’s a bad idea. We just feel bad only selecting one winner even though so many put in effort into their proposals / samples.

I have another project open for a folder print job and I am trying out an unorthodox method for choosing a winner on this project:

1) Everyone sends in their samples of previous work (website portfolios)

2) We reviewing everyone’s samples and choose the top 3 submissions based on their work and price.

3) We send these three finalists all the required information stated above and award all three a small gesture of 10USD each to produce a sample mock-up.

4) After these three finalists have submitted their samples we would choose one winner to go with, the other two would be thanked for their sample and at least will have got 10USD for their time.

I know it is not much but I am sure I am probably the first and only employer on freelancer to try this method. I hope it results in us choosing the best person for the job but also to show to the other two unsuccessful finalists that we appreciate their time/effort they put into the sample.

Finally keep the prices keen, I work hard to communicate to everyone and which has resulted in the last few freelancer projects being very low cost but extremely high quality work being produced and they have got accustomed to this. We are on freelancer to get a good deal but also realise you need to get paid for you work, the successful winner for this project I am sure will please us with their work and it would be a long term business arrangement rather then a once off job.

Also when creating the design with the full requirements we will also have other projects which we would normally do inhouse but if you were capable of doing flash or jquery as well then we would award these projects to you privately for more money of course. So this one project is larger then just PSD files.

Hi all,
We have now got our finalist and we will be contacting them today with the full brief. DO NOT submit any new bids for this project. Thank you to everyone for submitting their portfolio's there was some really good talent in them. Good luck to all the finalists.

Hi, The winner has been selected and the runners up are:

ArnabDesigns and Fluxiz

Both these bidders have been paid 10USD each for their time/effort. At this stage I have contacted everyone and replied with detailed individual feedback to everyone who requested it. I kept this project open to reply to everyone and now I will be awarding it to ProLV. Thank you to everyone who submitted portfolios and samples and all feedback has been stored for future reference on our next projects. We will be posting a new PSD to HTML project in the next few hours, you are all welcome to bid on this next project.
