Hi, First of all, what a lovely house! I am a chartered architect based in London and found your bid interesting. I agree with all of the recommendations you made. My comments on them are within the brackets. Removing the vinyl siding, replacing with shingles that would be stained or weathered. (necessary) - framing the windows with white (wider wood would bring out a more coastal feel) -replacing the exterior door (replace with door with more glass for transparency) -painting the deck (consider staining in a light stain,so there more light reflected) -extending the roof line over the garage to make a triangle. (consider a gable-end rather than a hip roof which you have suggested as it is more in the shingle style and creating a triangle may mean lowering the height of the garage entry which is not good) Here are my suggestions. 1. Add identical dummy columns (non-load bearing) to each of the columns on the porch so they are in pairs. This will add a grandness as well as the appearance of a stronger base. 2. continue this for the roof extension of the garage and add columns on either side. 3. Extend roof over the larger window on the upper floor to the left of the garage 4. Lantern style lighting for the porch 5. Paint balusters and hand rail in white 6. Planting coastal medium sized evergreens/sea side plants ex grasses, If you hire me, you will receive a plan of the alterations,3d visualization with changes and specifications where possible. Wow! What a wonderful home. First, let me introduce myself. I am new to Freelancer.com but rest assured I am not new to architecture. I recently retired from an architectural firm where I was employed for over 30 years to pursue freelance design and drawing work. I have also operated separately my own residential design and consulting company since 1990. I am quite confident in my abilities to provide you with what you are seeking and I hope you will give my proposal serious consideration despite being new to this site. For this bid I would like to provide you with AutoCad drawings for all exterior elevations based on the materials and designs you and I agree to. The drawings will be complete detailed, with dimensions and notations. PDF files will also be provided to print and share with contractors for pricing and construction negotiating. I am concerned that in order to do this properly I would need either existing residence CAD drawings or PDF files of the existing blueprints. At a minimum some type of field measurements. My thoughts follow yours primarily with a weathered shake siding, maybe a bit of gable detailing. The windows definitely need trimming and detail. Also horizontal banding on the tall side, I like the idea for a feature over the garage too but minimal, not to draw too much attention. I like a "sea foam" blue stain siding, white trim, wood stained porch ceiling. I would change garage door too. Just some thoughts I would like to discuss further with you.
