I have a Cisco 887MW-GN-E-K9 router that has been unused for several months, I have gotten it running and need someone to program a simple configuration into it to replace a faulty ADSL modem. None of the routing functions would be used.
The ISP service is provided as ADSL2+ (Annex M) and traditionally has used either PPPoA or PPPoE | LLC or VCMUX with 8/35 to perform as a router.
Currently an external virtual machine router is in use but the existing modem has failed. I would like for the cisco router to be programmed to simply function as a modem in a bridged configuration with the dialer operating externally over ethernet. As our ISP suppots multiple PPPoE sessions simultaneously it would be fantastic if it could be configured to have (e.g) 'fe3 on vlan99' and 'fe2 on vlan98' so that the primary router can continue to dial out on vlan99 but I can connect a separate dialer to the vlan98 interface.
The service is in Australia if that provides any useful context.
All other features of the router would not be used (wifi, firewall etc) as it should just be a modem.
I can provide teamviewer access to the machine currently plugged into the router and can then perform a test to validate it. This should be a quick short task for a cisco professional. I'm eager to start ASAP on skype.
